Brent Messmer, President/CEO
After six years at the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation where he started as a claims adjuster and advanced to the Supervisor of Investigations, Brent founded Matrix in 2000 and leads the company with a clear vision and strategy. His people first philosophy sets the tone for the culture of Matrix where employees, clients, and the community are top priority.
He is an alumnus of Thomas More College and currently serves on TMC’s Board of Trustees.
In 2011, he accepted the Professional Achievement Award from Thomas More College Alumni Association. Brent serves on the board for Hamilton County Development Corp. and Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater Cincinnati. He has also gained recognition as one of the Business Courier’s Forty Under 40 recognizing young business and community leaders in 2008 and earning the Larry Albice Entrepreneurship Award from the Hamilton County Development Company in 2008.
Dave Kiley, Executive Vice President
Dave brings more than 20 years of workers’ compensation, managed care, and risk management experience to Matrix. He came to Matrix in 2007 after previously starting his career with the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation and then progressing to senior management positions in the private sector with both Ohio-based and national risk management companies CompManagement and Sedgwick CMS.
Dave served as president of one of Ohio’s largest managed care organizations where he was a board member and treasurer for the MCO League of Ohio.
He is a member of various business and trade groups including the Central Ohio Self-Insurers Association, the Dublin Chamber of Commerce, and the Service Association of Ohio.
Jessica Esterkamp, Vice President of Corporate Development
Jessica began her career in the staffing industry were she became acquainted with the challenges of the workers’ comp industry. Jessica joined Matrix in 2004 as a Business Development Manager. She was promoted to Vice President of Sales & Marketing in March 2010 and was named a member of Matrix’s executive team in 2011. As her responsibilities grew beyond sales management and included the long-term strategic planning for the company, she was named Vice President of Corporate Development in February 2014. In her current role, she oversees the client retention team, sales & marketing division, and safety services.
She received her bachelor’s degree in Business from University of Cincinnati.
Jessica is a 2013 honoree of the Greater Cincinnati Cystic Fibrosis Association’s Cincinnati’s Finest program and is a graduate of the Cincinnati Chamber Women’s Excel Leadership Program through the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber. She serves as a board member of the Greater Cincinnati Big Brothers-Big Sisters organization and is a Big Sister to an at-risk teen. She is an annual volunteer and runner in the Flying Pig Marathon.
Stephanie Armbruster, Vice President of Claims Operations
Stephanie got her start in the industry in 1996 and began her employment with Matrix in 2004. She was promoted to Director of Claims in early 2012 before being named Vice President of Claims Operations in 2014. Stephanie attended the University of Cincinnati and holds certifications to adjust Ohio and Kentucky workers’ compensation claims. She is also an active and respected member of Southwest Ohio Self Insurers Association (SWOSIA) and the Ohio Self Insurers Association (OSIA).
Stephanie has a vast knowledge of workers’ compensation claims management and a specialty in Self Insurance.
Jim Esposito, Chief Financial Officer
Jim joined the Matrix team in 2010. He began his career in 1990 at Deloitte where he held roles of increasing responsibility including Audit Manager. In 1997, he began his consulting practice in which he has performed project management, as well as interim or advisory Controller and CFO duties for a variety of companies, including three years as the Corporate Controller for General Cable Corporation, a $5 billion publicly traded company. Jim graduated from Xavier University and maintains his designation as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He is also president of the board of directors for the Athletes United Foundation.
Brian Sweeney, President of Matrix Investigations
After joining Matrix Investigations as vice president in 2002, Brian was named president in 2010. He has been a licensed private investigator for more than 15 years and has completed all private investigator requirements through the Department of Homeland Security. Brian attended Cincinnati State and the University of Cincinnati and holds a degree in business management. Following his successful high school and college golf careers, he has won several local club championships and was runner-up at the Metropolitan City Golf Championship (MET).
